Studying Canada
An informational resource for international Canadianists
Updates from CanSearch Collaboration
Dear colleagues,
I am happy to share with you some of the outputs from (Re)Searching for Canadian Studies (CanSearch) project, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). The research collaboration between the ICCS and the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies at York University has led to some interesting findings on the current state of international Canadian Studies, helping us also identify some of the supports needed.
Monthly, we will be sharing short information sheets that offer insights into the 2023 CanSearch survey on the state of international Canadian Studies. The series, titled “Studying Canada,” shines the spotlight on the themes that you as scholars of Canada, prioritize in your work, shared challenges and key distinctions. The first information sheet is attached and available on the ICCS website at this link.
The CanSearch team has been working on an open-access database that you may find helpful in your search for up-to-date research and teaching materials on Canada. Today, we are launching the beta version, which has more than 300 entries. We will be adding resources in the coming months, especially in French, as we work to improve this tool, its usability and usefulness. Feel free to have a look: https://iccs-ciec.ca/cansearch_database/. We welcome your feedback at
We hope that you appreciate these outputs,
